    Too Broke for Sturgis?

    Share Post:

For riders eager to experience Sturgis, the largest motorcycle rally in the world, the price tag alone can feel intimidating. There’s travel costs, whether you drive, ride or fly. Lodging accommodations for 10 days anywhere can be a bit costly. In South Dakota, where the annual rally is hosted, average nightly hotel stay can range from about $150 to $250 per night. And then there’s the cost of food, plus any ticketed events, entertainment or other experiences.

For some, Sturgis is a bucket-list moment. For others, it may not be realistic, at least not right now. [Cues Too Broke for Sturgis.]

    An Accessible Alternative to Sturgis

Some who preferred to chill at a fraction of the cost of Sturgis found themselves enjoying the camaraderie, entertainment and motorcycle rally, Too Broke for Sturgis. Against the backdrop of glistening waters at the Stillwater Preserve RV Resort in Florida, guests soaked up the warm weather and enjoyed live entertainment. This marked the RV resort’s first time hosting the rally, but it won’t be the last. Ray, the general manager, plans to make it an annual event to attract motorcycle enthusiasts during the quieter summer months.

On a broader scale, Too Broke for Sturgis has gained popularity with other cities hosting their own version of the event throughout the country, offering an alternative to the legendary South Dakota rally that began in 1938 with Indian dealer, Pappy Hoel.
